How to make a wedding seating chart

A seating chart is easier when you work from the guest list outward. Decide who has to sit together first, then fill in everyone else around them. This maker keeps that order: paste the list, set up the tables, and move people until the room feels right.

A simple order that works

  • Count your guests and divide by the seats at each table. Many venues fit 8 to 10 at a round table, so check the number with yours before you commit.
  • Seat the head table or sweetheart table first, then the families who need to be close to it.
  • Keep groups that already know each other together, and place guests who are coming alone at tables with friendly company.
  • Put older relatives and anyone with limited mobility near the entrance and restrooms, and away from the speakers.
  • Leave an open seat or two for late RSVPs, then print the table list for your venue and planner.

What this seating chart maker does

Paste your guests one per line. A group after a comma, such as “Jane Doe, Smith family”, tells auto-arrange to keep those guests at one table when they fit. It cannot guarantee every group, so read the result and drag anyone who needs to move.

Your chart is saved in this browser as you work. The guest list is not uploaded to Wedflip's servers or stored in an account. Download a backup file to keep a copy or to continue on another computer, and download a PNG of the floor plan to share it. The print view lists each table with the guests seated there, which also works as a PDF through your browser's print dialog.

Round tables, long tables and a head table

Round tables suit conversation, and long rectangular tables fit narrow rooms. Set the shape and the seats per table in the setup, or add other tables from the chart. For a head table, add a rectangular table and rename it in the table panel.
