Jade had always found clarity in white space — in the pause between brushstrokes, in the quiet of her gallery after closing time. Luca arrived at her exhibition on a Thursday evening, the last person to leave. He stood in front of her largest piece for twenty minutes without moving.

She asked what he saw. He told her. It was the most honest answer anyone had ever given her about her work — and about herself. They had dinner that night, and then every Thursday after that. The gallery is still open. The Thursdays never stopped. This October, they begin their next chapter together.
